Mark J. Spencer, our senior trial counsel, has litigated personal injury, wrongful death and insurance bad faith cases throughout California for over 30 years. He has recovered millions of dollars for his clients and loves helping people obtain the justice they deserve.
Before the University of California – Irvine had a law school, it had a post-graduate paralegal certificate program. While actively litigating in the trial and appellate courts during the day, Mr. Spencer spent a decade instructing students in torts, civil procedure, civil litigation and legal writing in the evenings at UCI.
As both legal scholar and experienced trial attorney Mr. Spencer knows how to simplify the complexity of legal theories and use the nuances of the law to achieve victory for his clients. He has the ability to communicate to judge, arbitrator, mediator and lay persons on a jury what the law is, and why his client must win.
A California native, Mr. Spencer is a graduate of UC Irvine (B.A. in economics), and a graduate of UOP’s renown McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento (Juris Doctor). At McGeorge he was on law review. Initially a writer for the Comparative Law Yearbook, he was later appointed its Editor-in-Chief. He also worked as Associate Comment Editor for the Transnational Lawyer. During this time Mr. Spencer also worked for the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District. He began his legal career working for one of the largest international law firms on the planet and was based in South East Asia. He soon learned it was far more rewarding to work for individuals and help them with their legal issues rather than push paper on behalf of multi-national corporations. Mr. Spencer is an avid scuba diver (NAUI Instructor), fisherman, boater, photographer and a former aircraft pilot. He is interested in everything and everyone and will be pleased to speak with you about your potential case.
